Gyomei is a stronger, faster, and overall deadlier opponent than Rengoku. Even with Akaza's hyperawareness, he was literal inches and seconds from dying when he beat Rengoku. Rengoku, whose insane fighting spirit would make him the single most predictable character in the series to Akaza. I honestly think Gyomei could stall Akaza until sunrise without dying if he were in Rengoku's place at the Mugen Train. If he was marked, he definitely could. If he was unmarked, I'm unsure but leaning towards yes. Solo Marked Gyomei could possibly beat Akaza if Gyomei unlocked See Through World and Red Blade.
